The TrackMan Tripod Quick-start kit comes with a tripod *and* tripod-head for easy setup and calibration. The tripod *head* does have some minor built-in flex in tilt/roll/pan direction and in certain conditions a wind gust could create enough movement in any of these directions to invalidate the B1 calibration accuracy. In such case the App will notify the user that the B1 is out of calibration and you will need to re-calibrate to continue track data.
In these situations you can try place the B1 at a different location protected by the wind OR you can also temporary setup the B1 on a tripod *without* tripod head. The only/main draw-back of NOT using a tripod head is the calibration process will take a bit longer: When you calibrate the B1 and you have to tilt/roll/pan the B1 to ensure the tip-of-plate and rubber is within the calibration boxes in the app, then you will need to manually adjust the lengths of the legs and/or physically move the tripod instead of simply turn/twist the handles on the tripod head. However you likely only have to do this once when preparing for your practice setting so this additional work might not have any
Here is how to mount the B1 directly on a tripod:
1) Unscrew the tripod head adapter-plate from the bottom of the B1 backing plate
2) Unscrew the nut inside the backing plate using a screw-driver or another thin flat object. Make sure you keep the screw in a safe place as you will need to re-assemble when using a tripod head in a future session.
3) Screw the B1 with the backing plate directly onto the tripod. Screw it tight but do not force it.
4) Place the B1 and tripod at your desired practice location and start the calibration from the app. At the calibration screen where you must confirm that tip-of-home and rubber are within the calibration boxes, adjust the lengths of one/more legs to tilt/pan/roll the B1 to move the boxes.
